The battalion commander, aided by the battalion staff and the battery commanders, controls all the tactical, logistical, administrative, and training activities of the battalion. He directs employment of the battalion in accordance with assigned missions, guidance from the force HQ, and in the Direct Support role of the supported maneuver force. He works closely with the commanders of supported and supporting units to ensure that the battalion can accomplish its mission.
